The Communion table
What is Communion and why is it Important?
-
Ordinance
In the last meal Jesus had with his disciples He had given us such a holy ordinance, communion, A command to remember the finished work of the cross, To be still and remind ourselves that His death, burial, and resurrection was enough.
-
Fellowship
Communion is a time to gather together and to share a meal with one another, as heirs of His kingdom by his Blood we are a priesthood, a people redeemed only by the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins. We join together to serve each other and remember his Love, and to also come back under his forgiveness when we forget and to forgive one another.
-
Marriage
Lastly, the most important is the marriage with Christ, the communion with him is the marriage with him. It reminds us of what is to come which is his return for his bride. We take communion more than just a meal, it is holy. This is a time we prepare our hearts before him, we lay everything bare before his eyes so that this sacred meal would not become bland in our hearts. Above all else this is why communion is so important for the believer.
